Online Services
Online courses are now available. A certificate will be issued for each successfully completed course. Additional online courses will be added on an ongoing basis so please check back often. As well, we offer face to face workshops (see Workshops and Training), which are often tailored to your specific environment to increase their relevance and enhance the learning experience.
Communication I:
Communication I introduces the fundamental theory and skills necessary to become an effective communicator. We will examine the three important considerations when interacting with someone. We will examine 13 barriors to communication, the influence of word choice, verbal listening skills, non verbal listening skills and the do's and don'ts of effective listening. On completion of this module, you will be well on your way to enhancing your communication skills to achieve effective communication.
Difficult People I:
Difficult People introduces three common ways of dealing with difficult people and the formula for success. We will discuss general means of interacting with difficult people, as well as be introduced to 9 different types of difficult people and how to work with each most effectively. As well, we will examine what we can do ourselves to become more effective in handling difficult people and situations.
Assertiveness:
Assertion training introduces the basic fundamental rights we have as individuals, typical behavioral reactions, the assertion message and steps to make your delivery even more effective. We will discuss how to handle difficult responses and talk about our role in interactions to gain greater control. On completion of this course, you will be well on your way to assertiveness.
Restorative Justice I:
Welcome to Restorative Justice I. I congratulate you on furthering your credentials and adding this certificate to your portfolio. Restorative Justice is an alternative to traditional court proceedings. The course explores the roots of restorative justice, the differences from traditional mediation and guidelines to follow. We will examine satisfaction, whether or not it is successful, as well as the advantages/disadvantages of using this approach. Power, choice and control in terms of these mediation sessions will also be discussed.
On the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month, I will be in the chat room from 7-9pm Atlantic Time to answer questions or discuss conflict resolution.
